Enjoy!
Morning :
This is it! This is my first solo journey in Britannic country. I'm nervous but I'm so happy in the same time. Nervous because I worry about my oral comprehension of the Glaswegian accent witch is not an easy one to understand. But happy because for me this is adventure!
I'm in the Eurostar. My next stop is London. Soon I reach the Channel tunnel.
Later :
Yes! I'm in London.
For the first time, before entering the train station St Pancras, I saw small boathouses parking on a canal. There were a lot of them and they were colourful. Absolutely cute.
I had some difficulties to orient myself after exiting the train station but it last not long. By the way, the St Pancras building is beautiful.
The weather is good. Very sunny. Almost hot.
Noon :
I'm now in my train, direction Glasgow. There are so small in comparison to those we have in France. The company is Virgin so the trains are red and yellow :-).
The pilot's accent gave me some cold sweat in the first place. But after some interventions I began to understand what he was saying. I'm going down with Scottish accents level by level ^^.
Afternoon :
After a little nap, I began to chat with the woman next to me. I asked about the absence of bin and she explained me that surely someone will come soon to take the garbage.
Indeed, she was right, soon enough there was a tall lady with a trash bag entering the car shouting : "Rubbish! Any rubbish?".
We talked a lot and we talked about everything and anything as : travels, lamas or bricks. Yes we had a lot of subjects to discuss :-).
For the story, as she would left the train at the next station, Preston, she gave me her empty bottle and told me : "for the rubbish lady". Smiling I told her it was not a good title. She corrected it : "well, the lady that carries the bag of rubbish."
We talked then about the right-on way of speaking nowadays and it made us laugh a lot.
After she left, I had a little less than 2 hours before reaching Glasgow.
I just enjoyed the landscapes.
Later :
I'm in Glasgow. I can't say that the arrival in the train station Glasgow Central is sexy. The building are decrepit. On a rainy day that would look sad. But inside the station, it's really good. The wood give it a design of an old pub. The entrance is beautiful.
The city itself is kinda rock'n roll :-). I saw some rpg and fantasy shops with dragons and things like that. There are a lot of graffiti on the walls but it looks more like street arts. Some are really amazing.
NB : After the rubbish lady, I saw a bin man. I mean he is waiting with an open trash bag like a bin.
For the moment, I manage the accent. To give you an idea : "Alright" is pronounced "Eulréït" (French phonetic).
End of the day :
I'm in my b&b room. I took the subway to come here. The place was near the station. The subway is named : The Clockwork Orange because it turns around the city centre and it is orange :D. Note that it's not very comfortable for tall people. By rule of a thumb, the maximum height is about 2m at most but the roof is curved. I saw some tall men in difficulties here ^^.
I found my place quite easily but the welcome wasn't very warm. I looks like the lady was out for the night and wanted to go as soon as possible.
My room is very small but I have everything I need, even a magnificent hairy pillow :D.
The place is quiet and I have a long travel to recover from ^^.
