Morning :
Today was a calm day. I went to the Riverside Museum, as its name tells us, it's a museum built near the river :-). Inside, there's a exhibition of the different kind of transports that have existed in Glasgow and with those transports there were bits of the way of life of each period.
I liked the reconstitution of a merchant street where a lot of jobs were explained and the explanation on the evolution of the Glaswegian subway.
The steam engines were there too, as Glasgow was of the invention itself that lead to the industrial revolution. A certain James Watt ^^.

That museum showed the evolution of the public transports too : bus and tramways. I saw different kind of fireman's vehicles which were quite impressive.
Outside, there was a big boat (3 mâts - I don't know the word in english). It was a also a museum. It was the last of its kind. The visit was great.
Oh, just for the records : all the museum that I spoke about were free. Isn't it great? ;D
Noon :
I came back to the city centre to buy my train tickets to Ardrossan where I will take the boat to the Arran Isle in two days. And I located the spot where my bus tour will depart tomorrow.
Later :
When I arrived at George Square, there was a kind of strike. But this was the first time I heard a strike under the sound of pipes and with singers ^^. After that, I walked randomly around the big merchant street : Buchanan Street. I was it pretty empty in the morning but in the afternoon, it was full of life and full of music. I loved it.
I saw an acrobatic violin player ^^.
The city centre is rich of big buildings. I like this part of the city.
There is a lot of humoristic things to see too. Some details or so ...
For example : the cone hat on the Duke of Wellington's statue, although It is a famous one ...
Here is what I learnt from the bus tour :
There is a big statue of the Duke of Wellington on his horse in front of the Modern art Galleries. And it has a cone hat most of the time. It cost around 10 000£ a year to withdraw the cone. To stop this, there was a project to elevate the base. But there was a petition to keep it that way and then a public discussion. The cost of the elevation was big and someone said : "If the statue is higher, they would just have to take a bigger ladder." ^^.
It was also said that it was a tourism source, so they kept it that way : regularly the cone is disposed and soon enough another one is appended :).

It became a modern symbol of the city. Defiance and humour. I love that ^^.
The more I see, the more I like the city.
Afternoon :
I spent the rest of the day in Kelvin Park doing almost nothing. Farniente, I'm on holidays !
